At the monthly meeting we will hear about the life of a Justice of the Peace from John Perry, a member of Bingham u3a.

Been a JP in Nottinghamshire for nearly 20 years. Other volunteering roles include sitting on school appeal panels, volunteer driver for Royal voluntary Service taking cancer patients to hospital, and member of witness support service.

Am publicity officer for Bingham u3a, East Midlands Public Relations Adviser for u3a, and sit on national ctte looking at better ways to lobby government on behalf of the u3a.

Couple of other facts about me. As a civil servant based in the East Midlands I helped to secure £350 million funding from the Dept of Transport to pay for the dualling of the A46 from Widerpool to Newark, and, finally, I once had a chat with actor Peter O Toole at a bus stop in Somerset!!
