Edwalton Gamston and District

Edwalton and Gamston are two adjacent districts in the Borough of Rushcliffe on the eastern edge of Nottingham and include the surrounding villages of Tollerton, Bassingfield and Holme Pierrepont.

Edwalton, Gamston & District u3a was formed in 2014 and we now have a vibrant and growing membership of just over 200. We welcome new members and visitors. We are affiliated to the national organization u3a Trust, Registration No. 1021/999/14.

We aim to provide leisure, friendship and learning opportunities for those who are in the third age (usually meaning retired or semi-retired).

Our motto is "Live, Laugh and Learn ... but mainly Laugh".

A Monthly Newsletter is sent to all members and key information is also displayed on the pages of this website.

Monthly Meeting for all members

Our Monthly Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month (except in August) starting at 1.30 pm in the Church Hall, Wellin Lane, Edwalton NG12 4AH. (Doors open from 1.15 pm). We usually have a guest speaker and more details of each meeting can be found on the Events page. Visitors may attend a meeting to see if they would like to join. There is a charge of £1 each to cover the cost of hiring the hall and speaker expenses.

Three groups, Photography4Fun, Science and Wine Tasting,  currently meet in Holme Pierrepont and Gamston Village Hall in the village of Gamston. In addition we have used the hall for one off meetings, the latest being a presentation from the police on how to recognise on-line fraud and scams. The facilities in the hall are very good with a ceiling mounted projector and screen, as well as a kitchen, plus it is always clean when we arrive. Some members have hired the hall for their private events. We are fortunate to have this facility available to our local community.
